I can't say we're super close, but our relationship is a positive one overall.
He's fun, a little mischievous at times but can be serious when necessary. Very hard working as well. :)

Also Fergus. Unlike most DP dads, my dad isn't strict, overprotective or controlling at all. But at the same time he isn't particularly caring or affectionate either. We are quite distant. I find Maurice and Belle's relationship pretty distant, their closeness is caused a lot by them not having any other living relatives. They don't have a connection that James and Tiana have. And neither me and my dad have one. Also my dad sometimes says me, "You are a genius, don't care about what those little people say". I can imagine Maurice something like this to Belle.
Also my dad is short-tempered like Triton but their parenting styles are really different.

Mine is judgmental, short tempered, and doesn't understand my passions. Like Triton's prejudice toward Ariel's fascination with humans, my dad is the same with my love for Disney. We don't get along too well, and usually end up in arguments.
