The Snow Queen was so evil in that story and it was full with awful songs and scenes. The whole movie was too dark for my taste. I never grew up with the story and wanted to know the original before watching Disney's adaptation of it. And it kinda seems like it was for nothing since the plot is different. I did like that the girl in The Snow Queen is the hero of the story and the boy is the damsel in distress that she has to save from the snow queen. That's a nice twist to any fairytale. The girl meets many characters before she finally reaches the castle and melts the boy's icy heart with her love. And the plot definitely flowed better too. I did enjoy Frozen because it succeeded where Brave failed, at telling a better story about a relationship between family members. The Snow Queen is about a girl's love for a boy, so I liked that Disney made it about the love between two sisters instead. As much as it's cool to have a fairytale about a girl who saves the guy, the modern audience expects that too much so that idea doesn't sound new anymore. I like that the romance in Frozen was not as important as the love between the two sisters. I like seeing Anna choosing to save her sister instead of saving herself by going with Kristoff. I just didn't like how the story didn't flow entirely well. It kinda felt like they wanted to get it over with already and left me feeling like they could have added more. I'm not sure which I like more because the two stories are different. I kinda wish that Disney did follow the basic plot of the original so I could see an "improved" version of The Snow Queen. In my opinion, Disney did The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Tangled better than their original stories. Disney followed the basic plot of those stories but added more to make it better.
