I'm just going to write a factual bài viết detailing the jobs I have to do in Fantasyland.
There are 9 Attractions in Fantasyland- 2 are just new, from last week, during the phase one opening of New Fantasyland. (Dumbo & The Barnstormer: not new rides, but in a new location.)
I operate link, which is a 3D movie, and link.
I'll discuss Philharmagic first.
Philharmagic Stand bởi Greeter
All I do here is check people's fastpasses and send them through either the regular line hoặc the fastpass line, as well as direct wheelchairs and people with guest assistance cards.
This position is fine during the day, cold at night, and this is where I get the majority of stupid các câu hỏi and repeated các câu hỏi over and over ("Where's Winnie the Pooh?!?"- because the Winnie the Pooh fastpass is under Philharmagic rather than tiếp theo to Winnie the Pooh-) and sometimes it can get frustrating. Especially since guests ask me các câu hỏi they LITERALLY just heard the answer to. This position is where I get the stupidest guests asking the stupidest questions, like asking me if Dora the Explorer was going to be in Philharmagic. I think guests should have to pass an IQ test to answer the park, but then we wouldn't have any guests.
Philharmagic Merge Point
This is probably my yêu thích position, especially when it's busy. I let people through the ropes once the trước đó crowd goes through, and I repeatedly say "PLEASE USE BOTH TURNSTYLES FOLKS. BOTH TURNSTYLES ARE OPEN. FEEL FREE TO USE BOTH TURNSTYLES." over and over and over because no one ever uses both turnstyles, but it's easy and fun and I get to block people from coming in once the theater gets through capacity. I also refill the glasses between shows.
I once had a guest let themselves through the chains and I đã đưa ý kiến to them "Folks, the chain is up for a reason, please put it back!" And they pouted and đã đưa ý kiến to me "There's no reason for bạn to be ugly!" and left, and I laughed for approximately 8943 hours.
Philharmagic Lobby
I despise this position. Once people are in the Lobby, I have to pack them all the way in and half the time people don't listen. Mostly I just tell them "Please fill in all available space!" And of course no one does. The guests all want to be in the front, even though I tell them if they stand in front of the doors and get in first, they'll have to go ALL THE WAY to the end of the rows once in the theater and won't be able to sit in the middle. I have to pack 500 people (if it's a full show) into a lobby and direct wheelchairs down the wheelchair aisle.
There's also Lobby Assist, if it's a busy day, if I'm in that position I basically help out Lobby and take over seating wheelchairs in the theater.
Philharmagic Theater
Here I have a microphone and I just tell guests this spiel I created and have memorized.
"Hello, and welcome to Mickey's Philharmagic! Please di chuyển all the way down to the end of your rows, do not stop in the middle and force others to climb over you, di chuyển all the way down to the end of your rows."
If people don't move, which happens a lot, then I tell them to di chuyển down hoặc say I'm not going to start the hiển thị until they di chuyển down (which isn't true, as the hiển thị is on continuous run, but it usually works). I also have to direct guests who leave early out of the theater, and I end up watching the hiển thị about 4 times, sans 3D glasses.
Some problems with this is there is a stand for flashlights and other supplies sometimes a guest will mistakenly put glasses on- and once one guest does it, they all do. That gets really annoying.
Philharmagic Exit Glasses
Simple, after every hiển thị when guests have deposited their glasses in the bins, I collect them and put them on a cart. I have ten phút to row up all their glasses, được trao that's how long the hiển thị is. If there's too many people, I employ the people at the Strollers position (I'll get to that later) to help.
Prince Charming's Regal Carrousel
Carrousel Operator
Here I basically...run the carrousel. I won't tell bạn the specfic buttons I press. When I enter the pen I have to check the RAC board to make sure no one is currently inside the engine room. I let people through the pen, about 90 people can fit on, and I do a safety check around the carrousel to make sure small children are buckled, everyone is facing forward, and no one is standing on either the outside hoặc inside edge of the turntable. When I've turned the carrousel on, sometimes I have to yell to people to di chuyển to the inside if they have moved to the edge. If they don't move, I have to stop the carrousel right then and correct them.
Carrousel Grouper
Essentially like Lobby but not nearly as bad, bạn basically pack people into the pen and try to get about 90 people to fit into the pen- easier đã đưa ý kiến than done, and it's not easily said. People usually argue about other people being ahead of them because we don't want a single file line, just as many people in as possible. We just have to convince people that all the ngựa are the same and they all go up and down the same height.
Other positions
Strollers
There are 3 different locations for Stroller positions and they all have different levels of how much they blow, được trao how much shade there is, and those who operate Philharmagic/Carrousel do basically the extra Stroller work around the park because we're the most overstaffed. It sucks, plain and simple. bạn di chuyển strollers down rows and repeatedly tell people "PARK YOUR STROLLER ON THE WHITE LINE PLEASE" hoặc else they'll park behind other strollers hoặc off the white line and cause stroller mayhem. People often complain that their stroller has been stolen when it's only been moved further down the row.
I get probably my best guests at strollers, plus that's where I had the really nice guest trade me an Eric pin that totally made my day.
Sword in the Stone
Basically we also get to operate Sword in the Stone, where kids pull on a Sword that's in a rock in hopes to pull it out (although it doesn't come out all the way, only pulls up further.) I won't tell bạn how it works, but if bạn get that task we get to pick which kids pull the sword out and which don't. There are rules, like the kid can't be gripping the blade hoặc standing on the rock for us to do it, I end up doing it thêm for girls because boys usually are the ones doing that.
Winnie the Pooh Fast Pass
One of the most frustrating positions, but probably my yêu thích here we just stand bởi fastpass and help out guests who are getting fastpasses. The most annoying things are
-guests whose cards weren't swiped properly at the front of the park so we have to give them cards that serve as fastpasses, and also give them the disappointing news that they have to go back to guest services to get their cards fixed
-guests who don't realize the rule that bạn can only have 1 fastpass every two hours, hoặc until the time on your trước đó card expires, and when they try to get a fastpass, get instead a card that says 'NOT A VALID FASTPASS: bạn already have a fastpass for [insert another ride here], another fastpass will be available to bạn at [insert time here]. Guests often don't read these and just thrust the card at me and ask why it's not valid. At first I politely explained, now I just tell them to read the card. "Read your card and you'll find out." Guests often whine about the fact that they can't get thêm than one fast pass at a time, which is annoying, because obviously if Disney let people get fastpasses whenever they wanted no one would use the standby queue.
The worst was one lady who started saying how it wasn't fair that people should have to come back at the time specified on the card, because 'what if we're stuck in line for another ride'. Lady, it's called time management.
I had my worst guest at Pooh Fastpass, who was literally screaming at the hàng đầu, đầu trang of her lungs like a 5 năm old and calling us all morons while other guests gave her disapproving looks.
Guest Flow
KILL ME
I hate this position, hate it, hate it, HATE IT.
All bạn do is stand between Peter Pan and Small World and yell at people to keep to their right, but they never do. Peter Pan is on the left, so those coming toward bạn always argue that they have to vượt qua, cross over. People in ECVs yell at bạn to di chuyển I never actually do this position and usually just hide and help with Peter Pan fastpass, help with Peter Pan strollers, hoặc go to Exit glasses and help there. I hate this position. This is the dumbest position and everyone hates it and I don't even know why they have it since everyone wants to kill themselves when they get assigned here.
Pin Trading
This isn't an actual task, but a bonus for us- we get lanyards with 12 pins on them, and trade them with guests who buy pins. It's really fun, and I often 'lose' pins (aka keep them, I collect Prince Eric pins, although I only have 2 so far, 8 that I've kept total) and bạn can get replacements down in the utilidors.
There are other tasks too, like closing and opening each of the attractions, but I won't go over those.
