* is called "hydroxyl acid", the substance is the major component of acid rain.
* contributes to the "greenhouse effect".
* may cause severe burns.
* contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
* accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
* may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
* has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
* as an industrial solvent and coolant.
* in nuclear power plants.
* in the production of styrofoam.
* as a fire retardant.
* in many forms of cruel animal research.
* in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
* as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.
Dihydrogen monoxide is a source of international conflict in recent years related to access to the chemical that some countries have and others don't. Other than the other risks listed above, I voted to ban it to sooth these tensions and keep wars from breaking out between anxious countries who don't have access to the chemical.
Like Squibblings said, dihydrogen monoxide is just plain ol' water. Nothin' scary here, folks! ^__^

LOL. Very clever wording, Cinders. =P Yeah, I guess banning the chemical would ease tensions a bit...because without it, everyone would die. After all, there's no tension if there's no one to have tension between. xD
Since the cat is very clearly out of the bag by now, I want to make it clear to everyone that of course I don't support banning water. The reason I posted this question was to prove the same point here that the original hoax proved way back when, mainlyu that you have to be wary of the information you receive, even if you trust the person giving it to you. Not that I'm saying you trust me, but...
Even if you're presented with an argument that's true (and everything I have listed concerning the "dangers" of water is true, and there have been "water wars" over access to fresh water), you have to be aware that you might not be getting ALL of the facts, even if you're getting some of the facts.
Do your own research. If you only hear one side of the story, you will never be able to make an informed decision.
I'm sorry if this upset anyone (I doubt it, considering how fast the experiment was outed), but it was meant to open people's eyes. I was hoping to keep it going for a while, but, ah, well, c'est la vie.
LOL, sorry we ruined everything so quickly. I had a feeling this was a "test", so I decided to be clever. =P
Looking back, though...I almost wished that I'd played along a little bit. It might've been fun. xD Anywho, thanks for the lesson Cinders! I hope everyone here takes it to heart.

So would YOU vote to ban this chemical from our homes, schools and workplaces?
