Ok. This isn't to do with the books, it's thêm to do with the TV show. It's not carried on from anything, it's made up. So Stefan has left Mystic Falls without saying goodbye to Elena and without telling Elena he was leaving. Elena is still upset after one tháng of Stefan being gone. The War Between 'Stelena' Against 'Delena'
