Many people seem to have an issue with the organization Autism Speaks. They believe that it makes autism out to be a burden for people who have and for family members. However, as a person who has autism herself I don't believe that's the case.
One large cause of the controversy is how the organization seeks to find a cure for autism. This exemplifies why some believe that the organization suggests that Autism is a disease, therefore displaying it in an overly-negative way. Alternatively, society appears to have an overly-optimistic view of autism. Autism is seen as a cherished gift which results in great talent. Although many people are only mildly affected and do have many strengths which correspond with their challenges, this is not the case for every person. There are some who are severely affected to the point of being unable to perform independent tasks such as owing a house hoặc even using the toilet. Finding a cure for autism could mean that people who are on the low-functioning end of the spectrum may have a chance to perform the same tasks as neuro-typical individuals.
Another factor in the controversy is the documentary "Autism Everyday." This film focuses on the daily lives and struggles of parents who have children on the autism spectrum. Many claim that this is yet another attempt to make all people with autism appear helpless and burdensome. There's also one infamous part in which people claim that the mother was mentioning how she would like to kill her daughter while her daughter is in the same room. In that situation, the mother was explaining her frustration with having her daughter packed into a tiny, overpopulated classroom and not receiving any attention. It's likely that her emotions were taking over and causing her over-exaggerate. Also, the end of the film covers how the children provide hope to their parents. The parents themselves even stated "He's my inspiration" and "He's so sweet!"
Finally, people claim that Autism Speaks attempts to speak for all people with autism and fails to do so. The bài viết titled "What is Autism" states that autism "Refers to a range of conditions." The bài viết also states that "The term 'spectrum' reflects the wide variation in challenges and strengths possessed bởi each person with autism." bởi noting that the autism spectrum includes a variety of strengths and challenges, it is my opinion that the organization covers the topic of autism accurately.
I understand that many people have a disdain for this organization. I am not intending to attack anyone with a differing opinion. Rather, I simply wish to offer a different point of view. There are plenty of other great organizations geared toward increasing awareness and acceptance of autism spectrum disorders. If bạn prefer any of those, that's fine.

If the world has color,
People like me are paints and brushes.
I'm far from the norm like it's Pluto.
What is the name được trao to those people?
Crazy.
Why crazy? We're people.
They just want to find a title
Of all sách that stand out in a shelf.
Some have imaginary companions.
Some are volcanoes erupting words and sounds.
Some just use their eyes as telescopes.
Being crazy doesn't mean being the offspring of Saden.
In this lifelong math equation,
people + crazy = people and
people + crazy also = world wide excitement.
Without those supposedly crazy,
There's no mental evolution.
Without crazy,
There's no imagination.
Without crazy,
Where's life's color?
