I don't like either anime. But to me, I think that Tsubasa is quite stupid. It had lots of references to Cardcaptor Sakura. The main characters were named Sakura and Syaoran, and Sakura Kinomoto even appeared in it herself. I prefer Cardcaptor Sakura more because it's cute, funny and very nice. Sakura has an adorable voice in the Japanese version and the characters are very good. Tsubasa is not that good, due to it spoofing and referencing Cardcaptor Sakura. The two series were made by Clamp. On the dubs though, Cardcaptors was dubbed by Nelvana and Tsubasa was dubbed by Funimation. I first saw Tsubasa as a preview on one of my Dragon Ball Z DVD's. It was not that good. I then came across Cardcaptor Sakura, which was beautiful and very good, except for the Nelvana dub. I personally think that Cardcaptors is better then Tsubasa. Done

Lol. I actually haven't seen Tsubasa, though I was planning to watch it, but if what Riley-san says is true, then perhaps I'm better off not watching it.
I actually didn't mind Cardcaptors, though I wouldn't choose to watch it on a regular basis.

Oh, now you've done it. When it comes to the topic of the complicated crossover universe created by CLAMP, I've got a ton to say. As I have watched and/or read every series they have to offer, I can honestly tell you how epic it is. Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles is still holding first place as my favorite adventure series and it is still my favorite manga series. Combined that with the intricate relationship to xxxholic, and it can be considered one of my favorite supernatural series as well. If you don't read the manga for both, you won't be able to appreciate the full complex storyline that really plays with the ideas behind the contradictions of time paradoxes, spatial distortions, and many more enjoyable subjects; so much so, most people who've finished the series were initially confused by the entire timeline, including myself. I really enjoyed taking the time to understand it.

So yeah, I adore Tsubasa Chronicles. From that perspective, I ignore the reality of which came first and pretend Cardcapter Sakura is a magical girl spinoff of Tsubasa Chronicles. If I had a young daughter and wanted to brainwash her with anime at a young age, I'd show her Cardcaptor Sakura. Of course, I was personally completely unimpressed by the shallowness and straight forward plot in the anime, but I really wanted to see Syaoran with his original Chinese roots showing. I have no regrets to this day.

@Liam: You don't have to agree with me. You can watch it, it's just that to me that it has a lot of Cardcaptor refetences.

@Silverexorcist: Your opinion is quite good. I don't see why you call Cardcaptor Sakura to be a spinoff of Tsubasa when it is older then it. Cardcaptor sakura is for girls, so is Tsubasa.

I'm just stubborn that way. I'm inclined to look at all of CLAMP's creations fondly, but acknowledging Cardcapter Sakura as the original work that Tsubasa Chronicles was based off of kind of ruins it for me. And while I'll admit that Cardcaptor Sakura definitely came across as shoujo genre, Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles--the manga, at least--gets fairly serious and dark, especially when they get into Fai and Kurogane's backstories, so I see it as less of a shoujo.

@Riley. Well, I haven't been able to find anywhere to watch it, so I wasn't planning to do so... If I could find somewhere, I would just watch it anyway, despite what anybody says about it... I know what I said, that if what you said was true, then I'd probably be better off not watching it, but I always tend to watch for myself anyway and formulate my own opinion, otherwise, I wouldn't gotten into half the anime that I've watched today.

Heh, exorcist, I completely understand. I get the same feeling with Summer Wars and the first Digimon movie. I know that Digimon came first, but Summer Wars took that concept and made it so much better that I can't possibly say that it got it from Digimon without thinking that it's almost a black mark on the movie. It just seems crass, you know?
